WADIN is a collaborative network for staff working in disability resource centers and libraries in Western Australia.  Priorities are to share training and improve awareness and access to available resources for disability and allied health staff and the general public.

Organisational memberships can be arranged by contacting the library.

Anyone may visit the Activ Library, view the resources onsite.   Membership is automatic for staff of Activ, Disability Services Commission and Therapy Focus and $22.00 per year for WA residents who are:

·                     parents of a child with a disability

·                     people with a disability

·                     teachers and staff of other organizations

 

Organisational memberships can be arranged by contacting the library.

 

Library members may loan up to 4 items at a time. Book loans are for 4 weeks, dvd/video hire is for 2 weeks (fee of $5.50 per dvd/video hire for teachers and other staff, no charge for parents and people with a disability).

This large collection has a strong focus on intellectual disability, and also features resources related to disability, developmental delay and learning difficulties.  More than 8000 items provide information on: specific disabilities, education and integration, coping strategies, employment, sexuality, early intervention, social skills, literacy and numeracy, family issues, advocacy, life stages – diagnosis, school, employment etc, independent living skills, and more.

The IRC is located in the foyer of The Centre for Cerebral Palsy. Services  are provided for clients, families or carers of clients, staff and members of the Association.   

 

Services are: loans, reference services, interlibrary loans, photocopying, current journals display and TOC and journal alerting services and information packs for students and members of the public.

Members of the public may browse the collection but not borrow.

Broad range of child health information including diabetes, epilepsy, cancer, Down Syndrome, asthma and allergies, autism, mental health, brain injury, parenting a disabled child, parenting a child with chronic illness, child abuse, nutrition, exercise, discipline and general parenting.

Good collection of children's books about going to hospital.

Focus on providing access to information about less common medical conditions.
