Channel 7 sports presenter Adrian ‘Barra’ Barich is about to lead Australia’s oldest open-water race into its historic 101st swim.
The Swim Thru Perth, proudly presented by Nigel Satterley AM, will see former West Coast Eagle star turned sports presenter for Channel 7 take on hosting duties for this all-inclusive, family-friendly event on Sunday, January 19.
Mr Barich will be joined by seven-time world champion Shelley Taylor-Smith, Telethon Speech & Hearing’s Mark Fitzpatrick and former student Izaac Coubrough – all of whom will make a splash at the 2020 event in differing races on the day.
Telethon Speech & Hearing Chief Executive Mark Fitzpatrick, who will enter the Captain Cook Cruises CEO Challenge alongside Mr Barich, said the cause was honoured to have the former Eagle fronting the event in 2020.
“The Swim Thru Perth is such an iconic community event that aims to celebrate all things great about Perth and WA,” he said.
“Superbly coordinated by the Claremont Masters Swimming Club, the Swim has something for everyone in a relaxed, family atmosphere.”
“With race distances ranging from 100m right up to 3.5km, there’s something for everyone whether you want to enter individually or as a team for the Channel 7 800m Splash and The West Australian Corporate Cup. This year’s Swim Thru Perth drew in a record field of 440 registered swimmers to its races that all finished at Matilda Bay in Crawley.
“Having the backing of Nigel Satterley, Seven West Media, and now Barra as the face of Swim Thru Perth, just adds another level of excitement that we hope encourages more families and more kids to get into the water and enjoy open water swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.
The Swim Thru Perth kicks off on Sunday January 19, 2020 with early bird registrations now open until December 23, 2019. Enter online at www.swimthruperth.org
