NAIDOC Hall of Fame

Elaine Walker, the Community Engagement and Liaison Officer for the Chevron Pilbara Ear Health Program, has been honoured by Tambrey Primary School as part of their NAIDOC Hall of Fame. This recognition reflects her and the team’s outstanding work in the community.

Upon receiving news from the school about her inclusion in their NAIDOC Hall of Fame, Elaine expressed thanks and elaborated on the highlights of her role.

“I am the Community Engagement and Liaison Officer for the Chevron Pilbara Ear Health program,” said Elaine. “I collaborate with others to listen and understand community needs, providing hearing services and ear health education to the communities in Karratha, Roebourne, Onslow, and the surrounding areas.”

“My hobbies are fishing, enjoying what the beautiful Pilbara has to offer, and being around friends and family. My achievement in life is having children complete school and then having meaningful employment for a rewarding future.”

“I am also proud to support the community to have healthy ears and general health.”

NAIDOC Week is celebrated nationwide from 7-14 July 2024,  honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s history, culture, and achievements. This year’s NAIDOC theme is “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud.” The National NAIDOC Committee has chosen a theme that symbolises the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture.

“To me, it signifies that we are still here standing tall, strong, and proud. We have connection and tradition to our country and each other,” said Elaine.
