Vale Jack Bendat

Our Telethon Speech & Hearing staff and community are saddened by news of WA businessman and philanthropist, Dr Jack Bendat OAM. We extend our deepest sympathies to Jack’s family and loved ones during this extremely difficult time.

Dr Bendat, Eleanor and his family have been enduring supporters of Telethon Speech & Hearing for many years. We consider them part of our Telethon family as he played an integral part of our organisation’s growth from the 1960s.

Most significantly, Dr Bendat ensured thousands of Western Australian children can today benefit from world-class allied health facilities here in Perth as his family, alongside many other corporate and private supporters, helped to fund the “Bendat Parent and Community Centre” back in 2011.

Dr Bendat’s support allowed our existing Centre to be revitalised and expanded to make room for state-of-the-art audiology booths, customised family therapy suites, the first dedicated early literacy library in WA, and training and conference facilities.

Farewell and thank you, Jack. Children in WA who have hearing loss, or speech or language difficulties are better off because of your generosity. It is because of you that they can access the supports they need early in life. We will always treasure your support of our community.
