TSH Psychology Clinic
The Telethon Speech & Hearing (TSH) Psychology Clinic provides enhanced psychology services to TSH families and the general public.
Our vision is to provide best practice psychological intervention and assessment services for individuals with speech and hearing needs, their families and the wider community.
Services offered includes:
- Individual psychological intervention for children, adolescent and adults.
- Group therapy for children and adolescents.
- Comprehensive assessments for behavioural, developmental, cognitive and learning issues in children and adolescents.
- Professional supervision for trainee, provisional and registrar psychologists.
TSH families and the general public are eligible to attend. We specialise in providing psychological services to people with speech and hearing needs, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing across their lifespan.
You may be eligible to access psychological services via Medicare under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative. The rebates and number of available sessions varies depending on the initiative. A consultation with your General Practitioner is required to discuss the best Medicare option and to obtain a Treatment Plan prior to commencing psychological intervention.
TSH Psychology Clinic will bulk bill individual psychological services to existing TSH families and Health Care Card holders under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative. A gap will be payable under the Better Start for Children with a Disability and for all services under the Chronic Disease Management Initiative.
Rebate for psychological intervention may also be available through your private health insurance. Please contact your insurer to determine the rebate you are entitled to under your individual plan. It is not possible to claim for psychological services via Medicare as well as your private health care insurer.
Comprehensive Psychological assessments for Children and Adolescents
These assessments are designed for children and adolescents who are experiencing academic challenges or difficulties with learning. The assessment will identify cognitive strengths and limitations which will help determine appropriate and targeted recommendations to enhance learning and accommodate academic difficulties.
The fee includes an initial consultation with parents, phone/email contact with teacher, psychometric testing, detailed report and feedback session. Rebates for assessments are not available via Medicare however you may be eligible for a private health insurance rebate.
Fees for all psychological services are payable on the day of consultation. EFTPOS facilities are available. Assessment reports are issued upon full payment of assessment. 24 hours notice is required for cancellation of appointments otherwise the full consultation fee will be charged.
