Thank you to everyone who joined us in early June for our first alumni event of 2025. We were thrilled to welcome 37 returning alumni students, along with some of our cherished founding families and educators, including Vince McCudden and Karen Venard, both of whom played pivotal roles in TSH’s early days.

It was a pleasure to introduce our new CEO, Carole Steketee, who shared her hopes for a connected, vibrant and engaged alumni community. Kerry Picotti and Richard Wright also provided meaningful updates about the wonderful things happening in Chatterbox and the Outpost programs.

A true highlight of the morning was the heartfelt Parent Panel, featuring three incredible TSH mums who generously shared their stories with us. They each spoke with deep emotion and honesty, giving insight into their unique journeys.

Paula (pictured right), mum to three TSH students, Indiana, Oliver and Noah, Paula’s family journey was a beautiful reflection of the impact of tailored support.

Courtney (pictured below), mum to Year 11 student Noah, spoke about her son’s resilience and the vital support he’s received from TSH’. Noah’s journey is one of determination and strength.

Elise shared her story of Ethan who has been part of our Chatterbox program since 2023. TSH has offered the guidance and support their family has needed.

We also took a moment to honour the remarkable legacy of the Ladies Auxiliary, teachers and parents whose tireless dedication in TSH’s early years left an enduring impact. Among their many efforts, they famously hosted the legendary annual “LAMATHON”, a fundraising marathon that included the help of parents and teachers, during which an astonishing 12,000 dozen lamingtons were baked in a single weekend. This extraordinary achievement helped raise critical funds for TSH, then known as The Speech and Hearing Centre, keeping the doors open and services running during some challenging times.

Thank you once again to everyone who joined us. We look forward to future events where our alumni can reconnect with the TSH community, a place that has held meaning for so many for almost 60 years. Together, we’ll continue to inspire the next generation and celebrate every life changing journey made possible through TSH.
