TSH is a not-for-profit organisation supporting children throughout Western Australia with hearing loss, speech and language difficulties. In partnership with families, we empower children to hear, communicate, connect, and learn – leading to stronger communities.

Chevron Pilbara Ear Health Program

The Chevron Pilbara Ear Health Program provides mobile ear health services to children in the West Pilbara via a modified bus that visits participating schools. The program provides free ear health checks and a hearing screening, and facilitates appointments for hearing tests, Nurse Practitioner consultations and appointments with ENT specialists throughout various locations.

My child has learned so much and is much more confident with his speech, social interaction, and more. The support I have received has been incredible. I have been given the right advice for my child to help him get the extra help he needs. The support the staff has shown to his Kindy teacher at TSH has also been helpful and shown great results.

To be honest, I’m not sure where we would be if I had not discovered and been accepted into this program. It’s been life-changing, and I’ll be forever grateful. He’s been set on such a good learning path with engaging and caring teachers and support staff who have taken the time to get to know him and understand his needs. He is so well supported and happy.

My child is growing confident to talk more about social issues in the moment rather than panic and run off. It is still early days, but I feel my child always enjoys attending and is making good gains with a combination of regular school and TSH.

The changes in my child have been transformative. Over his three years in the Talkabout program, he’s caught up, especially in expressing himself. He started regular school confident, able to make friends, and communicate. From ages 3-6, it gave him the boost he needed for a good start in school. I’ll be forever grateful to Telethon and the Talkabout program.

T5 has given my child a fantastic foundation for his literacy skills. All of the staff are friendly, approachable, and clearly care about the children. It has been fantastic to watch my child’s progress as his literacy skills develop.
