Middle ear infections, known as otitis media (OM), are common in all children. However, Aboriginal children are up to 10 times more likely to contract OM than non-Aboriginal children.

Left untreated, infected ears can lead to hearing loss, which can affect a child’s social, emotional and physical development, as well as educational outcomes.
