Good news for WA families! The WA Student Assistance Payment (WASAP) is back for 2025, offering much-needed financial relief to help cover school-related expenses. If you have children in school from kindergarten to Year 12, you may be eligible to receive a cost-of-living payment to support your household budget.
What Is the WA Student Assistance Payment?
WASAP is a state government initiative aimed at helping families manage the rising costs of education. Whether it’s books, uniforms, stationery, or school camps, this payment can help ease the load.
Here’s what’s available:
- $150 per child for kindergarten and primary school students
- $250 per child for secondary school students
Applications officially opened on 15 April, and claims can be submitted through the ServiceWA app starting 28 April. The deadline to apply is 28 June 2025, so there’s plenty of time – but it’s worth getting prepared early.
Who Can Apply?
If your child is enrolled in a Western Australian school – public, private, or home school, from kindergarten through Year 12, you’re likely eligible.
The payment is also available to:
- Students enrolled through the School of Isolated and Distance Education
- Mature age students working towards their WA Certificate of Education
- Full fee-paying international students at WA schools
To apply, you’ll need your child’s WA Student Number (WASN). You can usually find this on school reports, past NAPLAN results, or on a secondary student’s SmartRider.
For full eligibility details, visit the WA Student Assistance Payment page.
